Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Words of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba from his Biography: "My Mission is to grant you Courage and Joy, to drive away Weakness and Fear. Do not condemn yourselves as sinners; sin is a misnomer for what are really errors, provided you repent sincerely and resolve not to follow Evil again. Pray to the Lord to give you the strength to overcome the habits which had enticed you when you were ignorant."
"I have come to light the lamp of Love in your hearts, to see that it shines day by day with added luster. I have not come on any mission or publicity for any sect or creed or cause nor have I come to collect followers for any doctrine. I have no plans to attract disciples or devotees into my fold or any fold. I have come to tell you of the Universal, Unitary Faith, this Path of Love, this Duty of Love, this Obligation to Love." (Sri Sathya Sai Baba, 4 July 1968)

Conversations with Sathya Sai Baba
By Dr. J.S. Hislop
Birth Day Publishing Company; (May 1, 1979)
168 pages; ISBN: 0960095853

Dr. Hislop is the first President of the Sathya Sai Baba Council of America, and is recognized as having more face-to-face conversations with Sai Baba than any other Westerner. This is a direct account of talks which occurred over a period of more than 10 years.

In this remarkable book, the former president of the American Sathya Sai Baba Organization asks Swami many of the questions you've always wanted to ask, including: what prevents us from seeing the truth; the limit of one's responsibility; how can one develop love?; what does 'surrender to the Lord' mean; how does one get devotion to God; what is the short cut to self-realization; how does one determine the dharma (right action) appropriate to oneself; what does Swami see when he looks at us; and hundreds of additional questions. The dialogues, taken from 10 years of interviews, are presented in an easy-to-read question-and-answer format. The book provides valuable insight into our own lives, and Swami's answers are sometimes unexpected but always sweet, profound, and deeply illuminating.

Foreword

The questions and answers included here date from January, 1968, through February, 1978. The first two interviews were taped and are reproduced in full. Thereafter, notes were made from memory immediately after each conversation. The questions asked make no pretence of being profound. The answers, however, come directly from Truth and may illumine the understanding of the greatest scholar or the most practiced yogi. Devotees are aware how infrequent and difficult to secure are conversations with Bhagawan; for this reason, a decision was made to publish the notebook. Except for the two taped interviews, questions and answers are not in chronological order. Definitions of all Sanskrit and Telegu words are provided in the Glossary at the end of the book.
