For
the past three years, hundreds of children have been attending a
growing number of holiday courses run by the Sathya Sai
Education in Human Values (SSEHV) programme all around the UK.
They join in sports, drama, art, singing, group discussions,
story telling and lots more, all the while making new friends
and gaining in confidence and inner calm.

The
week-long camps are free and have a lasting positive impact on
the children who attend and also their families, schools and
communities. One happy participant exclaimed, "The best day in
my life ever!"
SSEHV is a fun and stimulating programme that
helps children explore concepts of right and wrong through the
use of role play, songs, story telling, games and drama. It is a
character-focused programme suitable for children age 6-13 of
all different cultural backgrounds and religions, or no religion.
It doesn’t impose any value system upon children, but rather
draws out their own inherent positive values, thus empowering
them to become more confident decision makers in all the
situations they meet in life.
SSEHV is also taught in class time in over 100 schools
throughout the UK, where it is linked to and compatible with
National Curriculum requirements for PSHE and Citizenship. The
programme is also used in assemblies and as the foundation for
building a values-based whole-school ethos and has been
acclaimed by the DfES and OFSTED.
All the camps are run on a voluntary basis,
and free training is available for volunteers. Last year, 10
camps took place during the Easter, Summer and Christmas
holidays. This year programmes are scheduled to take place
during Easter in the London Borough of Brent, Oldham in
Lancashire, Dockenfield and possibly also Croydon in Surrey.
There will be summer programmes in Harrow and Croydon.
