Pleasing impact
Name of the company not
mentioned - Lecture-demonstration on Sai Kritis (a live recording) -
Sai Kriti Dhara - Volumes 5 & 6 - Dr. Hiramalini Seshadri - Price Rs.
20 each.
TWO AUDIO albums comprising
lecture-demonstrations on Sai kritis composed and tuned by Dr.
Hiramalini Seshadri, a medical practitioner and an ardent devotee of
Bhagwan Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, have been released.
The singers along with Dr.
Hiramalini are Srividhya Ganesan and Divya Seshadri. The violinist
is Bagyalakshmi and the mridangam and ghatam are handled by Shriram
and Karthik respectively.
In the introduction to the Sai
kritis it is explained that the composer, due to the Lord's Grace,
was able to sing so many compositions in praise of Baba without
having any traditional training in Classical Music.
She has also said that it was
Bhagwan's command to sing about all forms of Godhead and not just
Sai.
The Todi varnam describes the
advent of the Lord in the auspicious year of Akshaya as the son of
Iswaramba. An invocatory song on Lord Ganesha in Pantuvarali and a
regal Sankarabharanam kriti "Sarva Sukhadhayini" have a pleasing
devotional impact.
"Shivaratri priya" in
Kharaharapriya describing the Vibhuti Abhisheka to Shirdi Sai and
the Lingodhbhava is particularly impressive.
The songs in Hamsadwani,
Nattai, Yamunakalyani, Hindolam, a lilting thillana in Nattakurinji
and "Omkara Nadham" in Madhyamavati provide sustained listening
interest.
