Pursue the path of truth: Satya
Sai Baba

PUTTAPARTHI:
"Every man aspires for happiness and peace without understanding
nature. While we are all a part of nature, why should we
differentiate between each other in terms of wealth, community
and religion? Though there are many determined men, no one knows
the goal of life," said Sri Satya Sai Baba.
Delivering a discourse on the occasion of his 77th birthday on
Saturday at Prasanthi Nilayam, Baba said that people do not
understand the true goal of life and therefore seek momentary
pleasures. "They live in the delusion that life is all about
food and shelter and forget that there is a superior goal above
all these things. Pursuit of this goal requires steadfastness,"
he added.
Without steadfastness one cannot achieve anything, Satya Sai
Baba said. Everyone should pursue the path of truth. Truth leads
to god, Baba said calling upon his devotees to maintain unity in
thought, word and deed.
Preoccupation with materialism prevents one from attaining
wisdom. "What is the use if you don't bathe even though the
river is flowing close by," he said. Purifying the heart confers
bliss, he said.
Baba advised people to respect each other.
"There can be peace only when there is equality in society," Satya Sai Baba said.
A huge crowd of over a lakh of devotees attended the glittering
function early in the morning. A music concert was held in the
evening as part of the celebrations. Earlier, students of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning fanned out into
surrounding villages and distributed food and clothes to the
people. |
