National Spiritual
Wing Conference, Purity, Unity and Divinity - Sat 26th June,
2004, Glasgow
|
“Purity, Unity and Divinity must be our
watchwords: they alone can ensure material and spiritual well
being. With Purity and Unity we can disclose our Divinity and
develop genuine devotion to God” Sathya Sai Baba
The National Spiritual Wing of the Sathya Sai
Service organisation organised a one day conference to remind
devotees of the above message and to help provide tools for inner
transformation. So how do we experience purity, unity and
divinity? Quite simply by firstly looking at what these things are
not – the senses, emotions and desires which lure us towards the
impermanent and the temporary.
For those of you who didn’t attend the day you
might like to take some time now to reflect on the questions below –
and for those of you who did attend you may like to repeat the
exercise!
- What are the senses?
- How are you aware of your
senses?
- When are you most aware
of your senses?
- What senses are you most
aware of and why?
- What senses are you least
aware of?
- Are you conscious most of
the time which way your senses are pulling you?
- Are your senses pulling
you towards positive or negative things?
- What do you think you can
do differently in the future to control the senses that pull you
towards negative experiences?
You may like to repeat these questions your
emotions and desires. Further contemplate if you think you are
aware of an emotion before you are pulled into it? Are you able to
make a conscious decision to engage with that particular emotion.
Are your emotions / desires controlling you or are you controlling
them?
The day also focussed on Silence, Meditation
on the Breath and the Jyothi meditation which are all tools to help
us deal with our senses, emotions and desires.
