SWAMIS MESSAGE ON EDUCATION
SAI RAM
Students in the past practiced “simple living and high
thinking,” but today they are engaged in “high living
and low thinking.” High living urges them to earn and
amass money, which is subject to devaluation and
diminution. But the wealth of knowledge and character
is free of both these.

ANSWER TO PREVIOUS ISSUE
QUESTION 1
Why is it necessary to keep faith?
ANSWER 1
ANSWER:
All living things have faith that it will live. This
is the basic faith
that makes us do things. But the real fact is our
lives are not permanent as we can go any time and all
material things will vanish one day. Understanding
this truth we are put in a position to have faith in
some absolute so that it is not shakable, that is God
(Swami) faith in people and material things will give
us worry because we will be separated from these
things, but if we have faith in god we can be sure
that we will be guided and directed. This faith in God
is like a string tied at one end to the pillar (god)
and other end to a ball (the individual atma) when the
ball rotates around the pillar in one
direction (spiritual sadhana) the string gets shorter
and shorter and
the ball gets attached to the pillar (merging in God)
the string is the
faith. the string may be strong so our faith is
strong. Without the pillar (God) nothing can rotate
because the pillar (God) is the axis upon which our
lives rotate. Only thing we have to do is connect our
selves with faith the string to the pillar the god so
that our journey is directional and have some meaning.
If we do not have faith the ball without the string
jumps here and there and has no direction. So the
faith to god is important that will lead to self
realization and to merge with god. Jai Sai Ram Please

QUESTION 1
Why does it help in thinking of God always?
ANSWER 1
Thinking of God's name is the ONLY sadhana wherein
there is no action needed. For a thought to
materialize, it needs action. Say, I want to do a
charity. This is a thought. For this thought to become
a reality, I need to find a suitable place of charity,
get the needed things for that charity, and find a way
to distribute etc. Similarly, for a bad thought also,
say, I want to rob a bank [!], this also needs
elaborate preparation, action and execution. Whereas,
if I develop a thought to chant the Lord's name,
that's it; the thought itself an action. I start
chanting either aloud, or in my mind or in
contemplation. It needs no other thing. Also, this
thought, makes me at peace with self, thereby, with
peace with others and makes me happy. That's why this
is sacred. Lord Krishna says in GeethA, that in the
sacred offerings [yagnas],He is in Japa yagna. Sairam.

LESSON FOR THE WEEK
SWAMI TALKS ON DHARMA
On Mind
The mind creates no harm and gives no trouble as long
as it is not merged with the body senses. For
instance, the mind has a thought of theater. No harm.
But if the mind picks up the body and carries it to
the theater, then it becomes involved with the
picture, the people, the emotions, the concepts, and
peace is lost. The mind should not engage itself in
the body senses. Body sense should serve the needs of
the body only. Mind should be engaged in the five mind
senses, which are: truth, concentration, peace, love,
bliss. As long as the mind is so engaged, all is well
and the person is happy and peaceful.

Our head and Swami’s feet should be inseparable in our
imagination.

2) How is it so?
3) How should we express it?
4) How should we evaluate ourselves?
